ITC 2010: A Carbon-Neutral Event
The Integral Theory Conference has committed to being carbon-neutral for all travel related to the conference event. We have selected Carbonfund.org, the leading nonprofit offset organization, to be our partner for the purchase of carbon offset certificates. By making it easy and affordable for any individual, business, or organization to reduce & offset their climate impact, Carbonfund.org is leading the fight against global warming and quickening the transformation to a clean energy future. Carbonfund.org achieves its goals through:
- Climate change education
- Carbon offsets and reductions
- Public outreach
Carbonfund.org supports renewable energy, energy efficiency, and reforestation projects that reduce carbon dioxide emissions and the threat of climate change.
Our ITC 2008 Integral Audit
In 2008, the ITC purchased $2,500 in carbon offsets for the conference and also took the following actions in the spirit of sustainability, community, and integral consciousness, many of which we plan to take again in 2010:
To Support the "I" Dimension:
- Meditation, yoga, and tai chi sessions in the morning
- Designating a quiet, contemplation room
- Big Mind with Diane Hamilton
- Holosync room
To Support the "We" Dimension:
- $3,000 in scholarships funds offered
- Rebates for conference presenters
- Open discussion space
- Hosting for participants - 8 people hosted by JFKU community
- Subsidized hotel stays for participants - total of 74 nights for 23 participants
- Awards for best papers - 8 awards with $500 prize for each
To Support the "It" Dimension:
- $2,500 in carbon offsets
- Paperless conference proceedings - 2,000 pages of material provided on CD
- Paperless submission and registration process
- Organic cotton t-shirts
